Author and editor of numerous publications on fine arts, photography and media art. 1991 founder and editor of the international art magazine for photography and new media “EIKON”.

Felice Frankel

Prof. Felice Frankel is a Senior Research Fellow in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University, where she heads the Envisioning Science program at Harvard's Initiative in Innovative Computing (IIC). She holds a concurrent appointment as a research scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her latest book is called “Envisioning Science” The Design and Craft of the Science She is coauthor of On the Surface of Things, Images of the Extraordinary in Science” and founder of the Image and Meaning Workshops and is also leading an NSF pilot project.

Dr. Harald Krämer

Expert on digitization and collecting. 1993 formation of a consulting-firm for museum informatics and new media in Vienna: realization and co-operation in more than 20 projects in the field of museum informatics and new media. Member of the program committee of the conference Electronic Imaging and the Visual Arts (EVA Berlin, 1997). 1999 together with Norbert Kanter formation of die lockere gesellschaft – TRANSFUSIONEN. Numerous publications, also audio-visual, on museum informatics, digital collections, media als well as on art topics, e.g.: Electronic Data Processing and Museum: Preconditions, Conditions, Perspectives (doctorate, Universität Trier 2000).

Prof. Dr. Beat Wyss

Beat Wyss, Prof.Dr.phil., born 1947 in Basel. Studies in art history, philosophy and German literature in Zurich.
1980-1983 scholarship holder at Schweizer Nationalfond at FU Berlin and at the Instituto Svizzero di Roma. 1986 – 1989 lector at Artemis Verlag (Zurich and Munich) and assistant lecturer for the history of architecture and culture at ETH Zurich. 1989 – 1990 stand-in professor at University Bonn. 1990 visiting scholar at Getty Center, Santa Monica, CA. 1991 – 1997 professor for art history at Ruhr-Universitaet Bochum. 1996 visiting professor at Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y. 1997 – 2004 head of the Institut fuer Kunstgeschichte at University Stuttgart. 1999 visiting professor at Aarhus Universitet, Denmark. 2001 awardee of the art prize of the city Luzern. Since October 2003 speaker of the Graduiertenkolleg of HfG Karlsruhe. Since October 2004 professor for art science and media theory at HfG Karlsruhe.

Prof. Dr. Wolf Singer

Director at the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research, Frankfurt/Main, Department of Neurophysiology. Study of Medicine at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. 1975 Habilitation for Physiology at the Medical Faculty, Technical University, Munich. 1982 appointment to scientific member of the Max Planck Society and Director at the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research. 2004 Founding Director of the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies (FIAS). Numerous publications. International honours and awards, amongst them Ernst Jung Preis für Wissenschaft und Forschung, Max Planck Preis für Öffentlichkeitsarbeit, Hessischer Kulturpreis, Communicator-Preis des Stifterverbandes für die Deutsche Wissenschaft, Ehrendoktorwürde der Carl-von-Ossietzky-Universität Oldenburg and La Medaille de la Ville de Paris. In France awarded to Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur. 1992 appointed lifelong member of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences in Rome.

Prof. Dr. Christa Sommerer

Internationally renowned media artist working in the field of interactive computer installation, focus on artistic interface design. Since 1992 collaboration with Laurent Mignonneau, numerous interactive artworks. Mayor international media awards, for example the "Golden Nica" Ars Electronica Award for Interactive Art 1994 (Linz, Austria), the "Ovation Award" of the Interactive Media Festival 1995 (Los Angeles, USA), the "Multi Media Award '95" of the Multimedia Association Japan and the" World Technology Award" in London (2001).
Professor at the University of Art and Design in Linz Austria, together with Laurent Mignonneau head of the Department for Interface Culture at the Institute for Media. Previously professor at the IAMAS International Academy of Media Arts and Sciences in Gifu, Japan and as Researcher and Artistic Director at the ATR Media Integration and Communications Research Lab in Kyoto, Japan.

Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Welsch

Studies in philosophy, art history, psychology and archaeology at Munich and Würzburg universities. 1988-1993 Professor of Philosophy at Otto Friedrich University Bamberg, 1993-1998 at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, since 1998 at Friedrich Schiller University Jena. Numerous visiting professorships, amongst others at Free University Berlin, Humboldt University Berlin, Stanford University and Emory University, Atlanta. 1992 awarded the Max-Planck Research Prize.
