The Chair of Bioinformatics and Biostatistics is offering national and regional competence in its disciplines embedded in an international network of research institutions. It provides consulting services (incl. clinical trials), supervision of master and doctoral projects, research cooperations and academic expertise following the principles of good scientific practice. Applications are welcome for the new international Master of Science Program in Computational Life Sciences starting in March 2011. Teaching is provided by an international faculty of leading researchers and developers from academia as well as the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. In most countries the established teaching programs tend to focus either on bioinformatics or on general statistics, producing qualifications not meeting the interdisciplinary demands of employers. The integration of biomathematics, biostatistics and bioinformatics in postgraduate teaching at the Center for Bioinformatics and Biostatistics will be an innovation for Europe.
