Professional wound management has become an expertise within the qualified health and nursing care profession. In both short-term and long-term care settings, there is a need for nursing professionals who can advise and care for patients and their families, ensuring they receive adequate support for living with a wound and the underlying medical condition. Graduates of this training program can find employment opportunities in both outpatient and inpatient settings within healthcare institutions, as well as in elderly care facilities and mobile nursing services.

In the second phase of the program, the Expert Program, students acquire the skills to inform, instruct, educate, and advise individuals, family members, or caregivers on diagnostic and therapeutic measures. They gain the capability for planning and organizing transitional care and discharge management. The completion of the first phase (Certificate Program) is considered equivalent to the advanced training in "Wound Management" according to § 64 of the Health and Nursing Care Act (Federal Law Gazette I No. 108/1997, as amended by Federal Law Gazette I No. 87/2016).
