Digital Collection Management

Certified Program
Digital Collection Management
The planning and performance of digitization projects and the realization of sustainable indexing and preservation concepts require qualified staff. Knowledge about future-oriented archiving, efficient presentation and commercial use of digital collections is becoming one of the key competencies of companies and institutions across different disciplines.

The certified program Digital Collection Management offers a compact introduction and access to the professional world of digital acquisition and long term archiving of visual material. Participants receive essential knowledge about hard- and software, selection and evaluation criteria. A special focus lies on the creation of practice-oriented project ideas and concepts. The transfer of project management know-how as well as legal and financial basics are some of the main focal points and will be deepened and applied in the students projects.

The access to practice is strongly supported by the professional equipment of the digitalization centre, by two international database projects of the Department for Image Science and by the attached image collection, which is located at the Centre of Image Science at the monastery Goettweig.
Target group Participants from different disciplines, scientists and employees, who want to qualify for leading positions in the field of Digital Collections or cultural heritage,
especially employees of collections, image archives, museums, libraries, documentation archives, image agencies and similar institutions.
