The Certified Program Iconography deals with the analysis of contents of image media. The course deals intensely with the identification, interpretation, description and classification of symbols, themes and contents of pictures. Beside image and media theory and the applied media iconography questions of the ability of visual communication of image media, the interpretation of image contents in historical and/or religious context and the visual production of political power are dealt with. The main focus lies on the Western European culture area; about iconography of non-European countries a survey is given.
| Target group | The course of studies addresses to university graduates and employees of collections, archives, libraries and other cultural areas, but also for persons who work in advertising agencies, archives of images or press offices intensely with images and their contents |
