New technological possibilities and economic globalisation have had a strong impact on social change and have therefore created a demand for developing innovative solutions to poverty, exclusion, aging society, work-life balance, communications and learning possibilities in educational environment, globalisation of financial-, production and general key markets, climate changes etc. Social innovations are as crucial for economic development as product- and process innovations.

Considering these recent developments, the theory and application of social innovations have gained importance over the last years - nationally, internationally and regionally. Besides initiatives started by the UN and the OECD, the subject has had a significant effect especially on European level and is also reflected in particular implementations in Austria.

This university course offers a worldwide unique professional master's programme for individuals who want to develop lasting and based on peer-to-peer-media practice social innovations in politics, economy and society. Graduates of our "Master of Arts in Social Innovation" will be able to work in the development, planning and realisation of social transformation processes in organisations as well as in consulting and supervision industry.

This study programme puts special emphasis on the potential of social determined innovations in digital and interactive media, in which the latter not only serve as an accompanying tool but as major driver for social change processes.
Target group Executives, employees and freelancers who want to qualify for invention, implementation, evaluation and supervision of social innovations in enterprises or other organisations.
Admission requirements An academic degree or an equivalent international qualification from a recognised university.
In exeptional cases, applicants without academic degree (such as MA, MSc, MBA, Civil Engineer or Bachelor etc.) may be admitted on the basis of adequate professional qualifications.
