Music for Film & Media

Master of Arts (MA)
Music for Film & Media
The artistic production landscape continues to change and evolve at an overwhelming pace. A globalized, technology driven world not only opens doors to new creative possibilities, but also to new challenges, as well as artistic and business driven expectations. The paradigms are quite different from the "legacy" industry of even a couple of years back. How does one define success? Who is the Composer nowadays and what must she / he do to be competitive in the market place, and increase her / his chances of achieving the desired plateau of success?

The Masters of Arts Program in Music for Film and Media at the Danube University follows a modular platform affording graduate students and professionals seeking further training and education access to scheduling and geographical flexibility. Moreover, as technology and trends develop at a great speed, the modular system allows the program to continuously remain up to date and ahead of the curve. The program features two main building blocks pragmatically combining practical training, theoretical knowledge, and aesthetics:

- Leveling the group's learning field: Surveying / reviewing disciplines necessary for a successful track as composer and soundsmith for film and media -- among others: Fundamentals of acoustics and sound, music psychology and dramaturgy, orchestration, music synthesis and sound processing, audio recording and production, applied technologies

- Applying knowledge / skills, and project implementation: Aesthetics, artistic goals and directions, trends, genres, styles, applied composition
Production, basic entrepreneurship for composers, self management, creative leadership
Target group The program addresses composers, musicians, sound and media artists, music producers, and musicologists interested in pursuing graduate studies and professional training with focus on music for film, TV, online media, interactive games, and sonic branding for businesses and commercial applications. The program also surveys key aspects of management, entrepreneurship, creative leadership, and networking for composers and media artists.
