Gerhard Gensch is Head of Office for Communication at Danube University Krems.
After studying music at the Meistersinger Conservatory in Nuremberg Gensch studied journalism and media science at the Freie Universität Berlin and received his doctor degree with a dissertation at the Institute for Empirical Communication Studies. He had worked several years as editor and editor in chief for a Frankfurt/Main based news agency before he joined UNESCO. As a senior lecturer in journalism and communication management he worked for five years in southern Africa and became head of UNESCO’s International Mass Media Training Center at Lusaka/Zambia.
- Numerous international lecture-series at universities in Europe, Africa and Asia. Among others Visiting Professor and guest
lecturer at University Leipzig, University Flensburg, Stradins University Riga/Latvia, Udayana University Bali/Indonesia and
Latvian Academy of Music.
- Curator Campus Culture at Danube University Krems since 2002.
- Member of the board of directors “Ernst Krenek Foundation”.
- Published several books and received awards and a scholarship for his artistic and journalistic work.
