On Saturday, June 16, 2018, Campus Krems’ study and research area became once again the scenery for one of Austria's most beautiful summer balls. The joint cooperation of Danube University Krems, IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems and Karl Landsteiner Private University for Health Sciences, made the fourth Campus Ball well received by a prominent audience.

The President of the National Council, Wolfgang Sobotka, welcomed the guest together with the hosts of the three universities on Campus Krems. "I am delighted to again visit the Campus Ball here in Krems. Krems is such a beautiful and historic university town and an important hot spot in terms of education in Lower Austria. Educational institutions such as Campus Krems are important for shaping the future in an innovative and sustainable way," said Wolfgang Sobotka, President of the National Council.

State Councillor Martin Eichtinger, who spoke on behalf of State Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, emphasized the importance of Campus Krems as an internationally renowned location for science and research. "We have established Danube University Krems as a nationally and internationally valued centre of science along with the campus, which symbolizes Lower Austria's scientific development in an international context," says State Councillor Eichtinger. The mayor of Krems, Dr. Reinhard Resch, also underlined the importance of the ball in many reasons.
Patronage for the ball came from Dr. Reinhard Resch, the Federal Minister of Education, Science and Research Professor Heinz Faßmann and State Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner.

The ball provided for every taste of music: classical dance music in the ballroom, jazzy sounds in the NÖ Science Lounge and modern rhythms in the clubbing area. Further the spacious campus open-air area gave the ball a special flair and invited the guests to relax outdoors with a glass of wine to enjoy the mild summer night of 16 June and relax aside the ball promenade, with its numerous bars and live acts.

Opening and Show Acts

A spectacular light juggling opened the ball, the CHORyphäen entertained with a James-Bond-Medley, under the title “Disco Inferno” Eventbühne.at showed a stirring 70s vocal and dance performance, and the midnight public quadrille formed the already traditional highlight of the program.
Another highlight was set in the NÖ Science Lounge, where the guests were invited to linger to music performed by the ensemble JazzBus featuring Eva Hag.
“The cooperation between three institutions on campus and the great mix of guests is the special feature. Not only national partners representing politics, economy, science and research but as well local partners, the Kremser inhabitants, students, lecturers and Alumni Club members attend the ball”, emphasized Ulrike Prommer, Managing Director of IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems. The annual great graduate meeting of the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems also took place in the course of the Campus Ball with more than 200 IMC alumni celebrating into the early morning hours.

Campus-Ball Krems: an integral part of social life

About 1,600 guests from the fields of education, science, politics, economy, art and culture attended this year's Campus Ball. “Campus Ball Krems has become a summer highlight among the local ball scene and is consequently an integral part of the event calendar for Lower Austria, Vienna and beyond. It offers the opportunity to link science, education and the region in a very special ambience and to keep in contact with the graduates of the University for Continuing Education,” said Friedrich Faulhammer, Rector of the Danube University Krems.
Professor Dr. Rudolf Mallinger, Rector of the Karl Landsteiner Private University for Health Sciences, underlined the importance of meeting local and international personalities: "In its fourth year of existence, Campus-Ball is already an institution far beyond the borders of the region and science. It is a great platform for students, scientists, business and politics to exchange ideas away from lecture halls and research laboratories. As a university, we are particularly pleased that the public is so happy to accept our offer and celebrate with us this evening".

Education and research in lower Austria: Create awareness and promote dialogue

In 2018, the State of Lower Austria was once again a partner of the institutions of Campus Krems in organizing the ball. Smoking "NÖ Cocktails" were served at the reception in the NÖ Science Lounge and presented by the Science Center Network Science Pool.
