Scola Telcz: Memorandum for intensified cooperation

On Friday, 21 September 2018, six educational and research institutions from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria signed a memorandum in Telč to strengthen the students and researchers exchange in the field of cultural heritage projects and monument preservation. Against the backdrop of the Scola Telcz, a series of scientific events focusing on cultural heritage and monument preservation, the signing was accomplished. Furthermore the memorandum is based on the activities of the Scola Telcz.

 

 

Main objective of the Memorandum is to deepen the cooperation, in particular by supporting the exchange of students, teachers and scientific staff through joint study and research programs of the six scientific institutions Masaryk University Brno, Danube University Krems, Czech Technical University in Prague, Slovak Technical University Bratislava, National Czech Monument Institute and Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. Built on the existing cooperation of the six institutions the memorandum focuses on the implementation of Schola Telcz activities in matters of including regular summer and winter schools student seminars in Telč setting a special focus on cultural heritage and preservation of historical monuments. The signing of the memorandum aims to intensify these activities and to launch further teaching and research initiatives.

 

 

Focus on cultural heritage
According to Rector Mag. Faulhammer, who co-signed the memorandum on behalf of Danube University Krems and as previous cooperation prove, it was able to establish an international and interdisciplinary academic network together with the local authorities to deal with the preservation and development of historical urban spaces.
University Professor Dipl. Arch. ETH Dr. Christian Hanus, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Art and Architecture at Danube University Krems: "For Danube University Krems, the Memorandum is one of the efforts to deepen and internationalize the focus of cultural heritage in teaching and research. Several successful research projects, teaching cooperation and academic personnel exchange activities have already emerged from the activities carried out to date.”

 

Revitalization Concept for World Cultural Heritage Telč
Under the leadership of experts coming from the fields of monument preservation, architecture and construction, natural and social sciences and art history, the Telcz Schola participants cooperate with students in 2017/18 on concepts to redevelop two historic houses on Teltcz’ main square as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Telč. Further on the program are the analysis and conceptual revitalization of the Old Town rural settlement structures as well as revitalization concepts for the building of the former synagogue in Teltcz.

 

The latest Scola Telcz formed an integral part of the AT-CZ Interreg project KULREG, "Potential of the common cultural heritage for cross-border regional development", which is implemented in cooperation between Masaryk University Brno and Danube University Krems.
