Film screening of “merk|würdig” on September 9th at Ars Electronica Festival with music by students of Danube University

Krmpf Krmpf Studios present day event "Future of Cinema" with three screenings of the film "merk | würdig" as part of the Ars Electronica Animation Festival (free admission!)

The film "merk|würdig” will be performed on September 9th in Central Linz at 12 noon, 1pm and 3pm. Admission is free. Students of master program "Music for Applied Media" at Danube University Krems composed film music under the guidance of course director Miguel Kertsman.

Eva Maria Stöckler created expert report for project submission

The Europa Nostra Awards represent the European Union's highest honor in the field of cultural heritage. On 22 June 2018, the award ceremony took place in Berlin. The Silent Night Society from Salzburg was pleased to receive a "Special Mention" award for the research, creation and distribution of the Christmas carol "Silent Night! Holy Night!”.
Dr. Eva-Maria Stöckler, director of the Center for Applied Music Research, created the expert report and was therefore instrumental in the success of the project submission.

Linz based Krmpf Krmpf Studios have produced a ”stereonarrative” film (a newly developed screening method dividing the audience into two halves, with each group watching a different version of the film whilst sharing a common soundtrack and viewing experience) titled "merk|würdig” in close collaboration with Danube University’s MA Program in Music for Applied Media engaging students to create sound design and music assets for the movie. The premiere will take place on January 13th, 2018 at Hollywood Megaplex PlusCity, Pasching.

Danube University Krems Hosts Cultural Talks and Days of New Music

Under the slogan „neue musi“ the Days of New Music in Lower Austria were held at the Danube University Krems from October 19-21. The extensive program included an opening concert by the Nouvelle Cuisine Bigband and the traditional costume ensemble Rossatz under the direction of Christoph Cech and Christian Mühlbacher, an audio experience course through The Contemporary Archive, as well as a concert by the newly founded Max Brand Ensemble in the Klangraum Minoritenkirche.

Central to the Days of New Music was the Cultural Talk of Lower Austria’s Culture Senate, that was opened by Johann Heuras, 2nd President of the Lower Austrian state parliament in the stead of Governor Erwin Pröll. He pointed out the central role that art and the promotion of culture play for the province of Lower Austria. In the context of the arts, this includes liberality and tolerance. The chairman of Lower Austria’s Culture Senate, Fritz Steininger, emphasized that with the Cultural Talks, the Culture Senate wants to make a pointed contribution to the discussion of important cultural themes.

Study confirms successful performance of the Cine Tirol Film Commission.

A recent study of awareness and satisfaction by Spectra Market Research commissioned by Tirol Werbung gives the film location Tyrol excellent marks: the surveyed national and international film producers consider Tyrol to be the most attractive shooting location by far in the alpine region. Furthermore, the Cine Tirol Film Commission is „top of mind“ in terms of first naming, with a very high profile (spontaneous and supported) as well as extremely positive overall satisfaction.

The literary scientist Univ.-Prof. Klaus Zeyringer, Ph.D. from the Université Catholique de l´Ouest in Angers (France) visited the Department for Arts and Management. The goal is to make it a competence center for modern music and cross-border art forms.
