Eva Maria Stöckler now vice-president of Austrian Music Council

"I am very pleased to be working with the Austrian Music Council board. In this new role, I would like to focus on the professionalization of music-related occupations, and work on a symposium to take place in Vienna in November 2018 ", says Eva Maria Stöckler. Another important focus of her work will be Austria’s music-cultural heritage, being highly relevant in the context of the “European Heritage Year 2018.

The Austrian Music Council is the umbrella organisation for music lobbying in Austria, representing more than 350 000 musicians and people working in the Austrian music business. Its members include 30 important music institutions, e.g. The Austrian Composers‘ Society , the Austrian Wind Music Association, the Austrian Choir Association, the Association of Music Teachers in Austria an many more. The Council is also part of a wide network of international institutions in the field of music like the International Music Council (IMC) and the European Music Council (EMC).

Three main topics define the activities of the Austrian Music Council: music & education, music & diversity, music & business. Establishing an Austrian Jazz Award, promoting the implementation of the “European Agenda for Music” and improving the social status of musicians in Austria are examples for its current activities and projects.

In Spring 2018 the general assembly of the Austrian Music Council elected Dr. Eva Maria Stöckler as new member of the board and vice-president.
