Europa Nostra Awards - European Union awards Silent Night Society from Salzburg
Eva Maria Stöckler created expert report for project submission

The Europa Nostra Awards represent the European Union's highest honor in the field of cultural heritage. On 22 June 2018, the award ceremony took place in Berlin. The Silent Night Society from Salzburg was pleased to receive a "Special Mention" award for the research, creation and distribution of the Christmas carol "Silent Night! Holy Night!”.
Dr. Eva-Maria Stöckler, director of the Center for Applied Music Research, created the expert report and was therefore instrumental in the success of the project submission.

This year's only award for Austria

The Europa Nostra Special Prize for the Silent Night Society is the only award that goes to Austria this year. Danube University Krems played a key role in the project. Dr. Eva-Maria Stöckler, head of the Center for Applied Music Research and deputy head of the Department of Art and Cultural Studies participated as assessor and was responsible for the creation of an expert report essential for successful project submission. The Center for Cultural Heritage at the Department of Construction and the Environment accompanied the submission process from the beginning as well.

EUROPA NOSTRA Austria at Danube University Krems

EUROPA NOSTRA is considered the representative organization in the field of cultural heritage in Europe and has members from 40 countries. In Austria, EUROPA NOSTRA Austria is the national representative of the international monument protection organization EUROPA NOSTRA. With the residency of EUROPA NOSTRA Austria at the Danube University Krems in September 2012, extensive administrative, organizational and scientific support is provided to the corporation and its archive. The objectives of EUROPA NOSTRA Austria are - in addition to the continuation of the digitization work of the archival documentation - securing, preserving, researching and communicating the cultural and natural heritage in Austria as an identification vehicle within a European culture.
