Film screening of “merk|würdig” on September 9th at Ars Electronica Festival with music by students of Danube University
Krmpf Krmpf Studios present day event "Future of Cinema" with three screenings of the film "merk | würdig" as part of the Ars Electronica Animation Festival (free admission!)
The film "merk|würdig” will be performed on September 9th in Central Linz at 12 noon, 1pm and 3pm. Admission is free. Students of master program "Music for Applied Media" at Danube University Krems composed film music under the guidance of course director Miguel Kertsman.
Already in 2011, the award-winning Krmpf Krmpf Studios came up with the idea of making a film that can be viewed from different perspectives with the aid of special 3D technology. In the movie "merk|würdig", which premiered on January 13, 2018 in the sold-out Hollywood Megaplex PlusCity Linz, the new technology of "stereonarrativity" was implemented worldwide for the first time.
Students of the master program "Music for Applied Media" at Danube University Krems faced a unique challenge in composing the film music for "merk|würdig": Visually, the audience was to be shown two completely different films - which image stream and thus which perspective the audience sees, would depends on which glasses the individual viewer wears. The sound, however, should remain the same and therefore had to be suitable for both visual perspectives of the film in terms of content, emotions and atmosphere.

The Ars Electronica Festival in Linz is now taking up the fascinating technology of stereonarrativity as part of a full-day program devoted to the topic "Future of Cinema" on 9 September. The touching story of "merk|würdig” about dementia can be watched and heard live three times - following the panel discussion (10 am through to 12 noon), 1pm and 3pm.
