MNE 2016
19.09.2016

42nd micro and nano engineering international conference

MNE 2016 will be held and organized by CISS. It is the 42nd international conference on micro- and nanofabrication and manufacturing using lithography and related techniques with around 800 participants. The conference brings together engineers and scientists from all over the world to discuss recent progress and future trends in the fabrication and application of micro- and nanostructures and devices. Applications in electronics, photonics, electromechanics, environment, life sciences and biology are also discussed.

Materials challenges for next generation high-density magnetic recording - media and readers
06.05.2016

Kazuhiro Hono, NIMS Fellow and Director of Magnetic Materials Unit National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Tsukuba, Japan

The hard disk drive industry is making continuous efforts to increase the areal density of magnetic recording. To realize an areal density of higher than 2 Tbit/in2 in the future, both media and readers need technical breakthroughs.

High performance micro-magnets for bio-medical applications
09.03.2016

N. M. Dempsey Institut Néel, CNRS/UJF, Grenoble, France

Hard and soft micro-magnets are of growing interest for bio-medical applications because of the extremely high values of magnetic field gradient that they produce. The exploitation of high performance materials (high coercivity and / or high magnetisation) is hindered by the challenges faced in fabricating and integrating such materials at the appropriate scale.
