International Final Conference of the EU Project LIB(e)RO
The Department of Continuing Education Research and Educational Management of the Danube University Krems has coordinated the Erasmus + project LIB(e)RO in the last two years. Now it was time to reap the fruits of this work in an international final conference on 21 September 2018 in the Regional Library of Lower Austria in St. Pölten and to present the extensive results.

“We must do everything we can to preserve the unity of Europe", emphasized LR DI Ludwig Schleritzko in his words of welcome the absolute importance of European projects to strengthen social inclusion. It is precisely in this area, namely the establishment of libraries as intercultural and socially inclusive learning venues, that LIB(e)RO is to be settled.

Thus, all project partners, the Danube University Krems, the University of Passau, komm.bib - Lower Austrian Association of Community Libraries, the Economic Forum of the Region of Passau, the Greek National Library and Action Synergy from Greece, were able to present a wide range of project results to the numerous interested parties.

“At the heart of all this work” is the learning platform LIB(e)RO, which contains comprehensive teaching and learning materials on European topics such as the structure of the European Union and its highest committees and exercises on German as a foreign language. In addition, the LIB(E)RO Handbook provides additional information for librarians and social workers on how to turn their premises into an intercultural learning environment.
