This Research Summit has a focus on two of the most frequent and debilitating diseases of our time: stroke and dementia. Are these two diseases separate entities or similar ones and only differ in their clinical manifestations? Are these two diseases only a flip side of the same coin? And if so, to what extent? Can research into one illness benefit research into the other illness? Is prophylactic treatment the same? Should researchers into both diseases and clinicians take more notice of each other? Are women affected in a different way compared to men? What are the influences of society, economy or climate? These questions shall be discussed by European top-experts in the field.
