The University of Continuing Education Krems is expanding its international partnerships in legal studies. The Center for Intellectual Property, Media, and Innovation Law signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government Law College Mumbai (GLC). This agreement paves the way for future joint research and study projects and strengthens the university's international network.
The GLC is considered one of India's leading legal education institutions and is the country's oldest law faculty. During its 150-year history, the institution has never entered into a comparable agreement with a foreign university. Through this new partnership, the University for Continuing Education Krems is taking on a pioneering role in collaborating with Indian legal institutions.
“The Center for Intellectual Property, Media, and Innovation Law has gained a renowned strategic partner in the Government Law College Mumbai. This partnership opens up new opportunities for joint research and teaching initiatives and strengthens the global visibility of the institutions involved,” says Prof. Clemens Appl, Head of the Center for Intellectual Property, Media, and Innovation Law.
Joint initiatives and international visibility
The memorandum establishes the groundwork for in-depth academic exchange. Specific formats and initial joint projects are being prepared and will be presented in the coming months.
The GLC has announced plans to present the international study programs offered by the University for Continuing Education Krems, particularly the LL.M. program in Data Economy Law, to students at national education fairs in India. This will allow prospective students to learn about the university's continuing education programs.
Against the backdrop of growing economic and political relations between India and the European Union, the partnership is gaining in importance and creating new opportunities for academic cooperation in the international legal context.
