In Austria, the training course to qualify as a clinical and health psychologist follows the guidelines of the Law on Psychologists 2013 and consists of general training (basic module) and specialized training (advanced module) (§ 8).

The individual subjects and classes are offered once in each module: The theoretical and specialized skills for a specialized training in clinical psychology comprises 120 units of instruction (10 ECTS) over 2 semesters and are taught at Danube University Krems.

Danube University Krems also offers the basic module "clinical psychology and health psychology" and the advanced module "health psychology". You will find information in detail on the corresponding study pages.

Students must organize and provide proof of practical training in clinical and health psychology as part of the course. Statutory provisions define 1,628 hours for health psychology (plus 100 units supervision) and 2,188 hours for clinical psychology (plus 120 units supervision) as well as 76 units of self-experience.

This course is taught in German, therefore an excellent level of the German language is required.
