In view of technological advancement, information-based globalization and a complex legal framework, data protection is a crucial compliance aspect affecting companies as well as public administration. The content of the course focuses on the EU general data protection regulation and national data protection law. This is supplemented and cross-referenced with related legal areas, for example labor law, personal protection and telecommunications law.

The university course offers academically-based, highly practical continuing education in the field of "Data Protection & Privacy." The course provides in-depth and application-oriented knowledge of legal frameworks, technical aspects of data security, and data protection management. The contents and competences are closely aligned with the legal activities and qualification profiles for "data protection officers". The specialist knowledge and skills taught in the course thus qualify students to perform this function in companies or in public administration.

Target group

The course addresses people working in companies, public administration, or NGOs who wish to gain a deeper insight into data protection and privacy in the context of the EU general data protection regulation, and seeking to qualify themselves as „Data Protection Officials,“ as well as lawyers, business consultants and career aspirants.
