The university course "Interdisciplinary Balkan Studies" offers students in-depth, practice-oriented and interdisciplinary continuing education that aims to provide them with a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of the Balkan region, while always taking current developments into account. The course focuses on the history and culture of the Balkan region, the social structure, social transition, the media, and education in southeast Europe. A further spotlight is on the political systems of the Balkan states as well as the European Union and its relationship with the states in southeast Europe. Particular attention is given to economic and business development in the Balkans, including the role of foreign investment and investor protection. Modules additionally focus on the legal systems, the status and development of democracy, constitutionality and human rights in the Balkans.

Target group

University and college graduates in any field of study, particularly in the areas of politics, humanities, law, social and economic studies, as well as people working or wishing to work in media, special interest groups, international organizations, business, industry, public administration, political consulting, interpreting or cultural professions.
