The interdisciplinary university course "Neurocognition and Social Competence" is aimed at therapists, health care and nursing staff, physicians, psychologists, social workers as well as interested persons from related professions in health care, education or social work who want to acquire sound knowledge about neurocognitive disorders, the behavioral problems caused by them and therapeutic interventions.
This innovative university course teaches neurobiological and neuropsychological principles, diagnostic methods and therapeutic intervention strategies for neurocognitive disorders and their impact on social competence on the basis of recent scientific findings, including a web-based eLearning module.
Assistive technologies as a prerequisite for actuation, ability to act and plan are further important contents. The various facets of social competence are discussed in a scientifically based approach.
The course participants acquire knowledge of the scientific basis of treatment strategies for neurocognitive dysfunctions and social behavior disorders of different etiology and genesis, can integrate these into their everyday work and plan research-specific study designs.
