The interdisciplinary university course "Neurocognition and Social Competence" is aimed at therapists, health care and nursing staff, physicians, psychologists, social workers as well as interested persons from related professions in health care, education or social work who want to acquire sound knowledge about neurocognitive disorders, the behavioral problems caused by them and therapeutic interventions.
The innovative university course imparts knowledge of diagnostic methods, therapeutic interventions and behavior-modifying strategies based on recent neurobiological and neurophysiological facts.
In a scientifically based approach, the most diverse facets of social competence and their deviation due to neurocognitive disorders are taught. Among other things, individual interactions in the context of the immediate and broader social environment that are altered by cognitive disorders are also treated.
The course participants acquire knowledge about the scientific basis of treatment strategies for neurocognitive dysfunctions and social behavior disorders of different etiology and genesis and can integrate their acquired knowledge directly into their everyday professional life.
