Students completing the university course “Psychotherapeutic Medicine“ are fully qualified to independently practice psychotherapeutic medicine both on an in-patient and out-patient basis. The competencies they acquire include identifying, psychotherapeutically treating, preventing and rehabilitating diseases and suffering in which social, somatic and psychic factors play a special role in their cause, continuation and cure. Approx. 5 % of the classes are held as e-learning sequences. The continuing education university course "Psychotherapeutic Medicine - Psy3" counts towards the DFP (Diplom-Fortbildungsprogramm) diploma.
With the ÖÄK diploma for Psychotherapeutic Medicine, medical doctors acquire complete psychotherapeutic competence in accordance with the Law on Doctors. On completing all continuing education steps, students can apply for the ÖÄK diploma "Psychotherapeutic Medicine" (Psy 3) from the "akademie der ärzte".
This course is taught in German, therefore an excellent level of the German language is required.
