This seminar on "Qualitative Social Research” aims to support students with the latest research processes during their project work and master theses.
Building on the university course’s previous module "Scientific Writing”, more in-depth knowledge is provided based on concrete tasks related to planning, implementing and applying selected methods for qualitative social research.
On the one hand, this seminar follows up on the module “Scientific Writing” while also serving academics as a refresher in state-of-the-art research methodologies.
Ideally, students come to the seminar with specific questions, or have the opportunity to clarify specific questions during their own research processes in the seminar to then practice and apply them independently.
Discussions revolve around the basic principles and approaches to qualitative research methodologies, the goals and questions of qualitative research, the research process sequence, selected survey procedures, as well as selected evaluation methods.
The class is structured around theory inputs, exercises and role plays.
