The power of language in gender equality was the focus of the event "Schön sprechen!", which took place on the occasion of International Women's Day at the University for Continuing Education Krems. The interactive morning showed how strongly language and images determine the representation of gender.
The University for Continuing Education Krems celebrated International Women's Day on 8 March for the third time, with an event dedicated to the topic of gender equality. How strong language is in creating reality was demonstrated by three world cafés focusing on language and power, language and images as well as language and values. The event, designed by Michael Bauer-Leeb and Alexandra Adler from “ Weitsicht - Büro für zukunftsfähige Wirtschaft”, showed the dimensions and effects of speech and text on the representation of women.
The University for Continuing Education Krems takes targeted measures towards equality and the advancement of women. The event "Schön sprechen!" was jointly planned and carried out by the Committee for Equality Issues and the Office for Equality and Gender Studies at the University for Continuing Education Krems. The morning was moderated by Dr. Doris Czepa (Office for Equality and Gender Studies), Dr. Andrea Höltl (Committee for Equality Issues) and Michaela Gindl (Office for Equality and Gender Studies).
