The Department for Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy at the University for Continuing Education Krems offers undergraduate and postgraduate academic training and continuing education as well as research in the field of psychosocial interventions, using a holistic and differential approach. It is currently looking for a professor for a position as an:
Professorship for Psychotherapy Research (m/f/d)

The tasks of the university professor include the dedicated representation of the field of psychotherapy sciences in research, development and teaching, the assumption of management and leadership tasks at the department as well as the continuous further development of the teaching program. The future post holder should carry out comprehensive and impact-orientated empirical research, the results of which should in turn be incorporated into the ongoing teaching process.
The following activities are to be implemented:
Your Tasks:
- Undertaking social, organizational and economic management and leadership tasks within the department
- Organizing courses and examinations, including supervising students in the context of courses
- Acquisition of third-party funding for research projects at national and European level
- Publishing research findings in high-ranking scientific journals and presenting the results at relevant conferences
- Development of (continuing) education programmes in the field of psychotherapy
- Supervision of final theses
- Collaboration in intra- and inter-institutional co-operations
- Collaboration in organisational, administrative and evaluation tasks
To be considered for the position, the following qualifications must be met:
- Completed university degree (doctorate/PhD)
- Completed psychotherapy training
- Habilitation or equivalent qualification in the specialised field
- Relevant professional experience and expertise in the field of psychotherapy
- Proven, scientific and internationally recognised research activity
- Relevant publications in renowned international journals
- Establishment in the relevant scientific community (proven by active participation in conferences, memberships, co-authorship, etc.)
- Very good knowledge of qualitative or quantitative research methods as demonstrated by relevant publications and teaching activities
- Excellent written and spoken German and English (both at least B2)
- Leadership experience and management skills in social, organisational and economic terms
- Experience in acquiring third-party funding
Desirable scientific expertise should include:
- Experience and high didactic aptitude in university teaching proven by teaching evaluations
- Successful acquisition of third-party funding as Principal Investigator
- Experience with university structures in teaching and research
- National and international networking and experience in participating in thematically relevant committees in the field of psychotherapy
- Experience in the development and management of university courses
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Expertise in gender equality and diversity expertise
The remuneration for this Professorship will be EUR 5,826.50 gross per month on a full-time basis (according to the collective agreement of the universities §49 VwGr. A1). Higher salary may be agreed upon, depending on the applicant’s qualifications and experience.
The professor will be appointed for an indefinite term according to the appointment procedure laid out in Section 98 UG.
