The professorship is established at the Faculty of Health and Medicine. At the intersection between the Department of Biomedical Research and the WasserCluster Lunz, the professorship is dedicated to the complex web of relationships between ecosystem processes and human health and links these thematic complexes in research and teaching. The main areas of research include issues of sustainability and resilience of ecosystems and food chains in the face of climate change, the multiple interactions between ecosystems and human health, especially with reference to human nutrition, issues of biodiversity and risk assessment, and awareness raising about complex ecosystems. On the methodological level, innovative procedures of data analysis and modeling as well as the development of new experimental and analytical approaches using the infrastructure at the WasserCluster Lunz and at the University for Continuing Education Krems (Core Facility Campus Krems) are the subject of the professorship, which combines basic research and application in the sense of transdisciplinarity and has a pronounced focus on topics of high societal relevance.
General job description and profile:
The tasks of the future position holder include the dedicated representation of the field of ecosystem research and ecosystem health in research and teaching, the assumption of management tasks at the intersection between the University for Continuing Education Krems and the WasserCluster Lunz, the development of the study offer for different target groups (especially in the context of PhD studies and continuing academic part-time education), as well as the acquisition of third-party funding from research projects on a national and European level in line with the strategic direction of the University for Continuing Education Krems.
The qualifications required for the position are as follows:
- Relevant habilitation or equivalent qualification in at least one of the above-mentioned fields of activity and evidence of interdisciplinary research interest
- Proven international research and publication activity at the intersection between ecosystems and health
- At least five years of relevant university research activity
- Leadership experience and management competence in social, organizational and economic aspects
- Proof of successful acquisition of third-party funding from national and international funding providers
- Excellent anchorage in the relevant scientific community
- Proven university teaching and lecturing activities in the field of ecosystem research
- Evidence of development and implementation of innovative research methods
- Excellent written and spoken English (at least C1)
- Experience with university structures in teaching and research
- Knowledge of the international university or non-university education and research landscape
In addition, the following skills and competences would be desirable:
- Gender and diversity competence
- National and international networking and experience in scientific societies
- Experience in and willingness to communicate scientific content to different target groups (science to science, science to public)
- Social competence, strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability and willingness for inter- and transdisciplinary collaboration
- Spoken and written German language skills (min. B1) or willingness to acquire them

The minimum salary in accordance with the collective agreement for university employees in job category A1 is EUR 5,437.70 gross (full-time basis). Willingness to overpay with relevant qualifications and professional experience.
