 ldwide
UID:01a05437-7fef-4af3-a856-edd35cb94752@donau-uni.ac.at
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will allow participants to consider how the IT
industries and the infrastructures they develop – platforms\, communicat
ion networks\, apps and AI services – shape the role of citizenship in c
ontemporary politics. The research presented will consider how the desig
n and governance of such infrastructures shape the status and behavior o
f citizens enabling some forms of political participation and constraini
ng others. It will also consider how industrial actors intervene in the
political arena whether through political activism\, campaign financing\
, engagement with the legislative process\, or behind the scenes lobbyin
g promoting particular notions of citizenship\, and the public good. The
speakers at the workshop will engage with these themes in diverse conte
xts under divergent and often rapidly changing political regimes and pro
vide relevant examples and use cases. \n\nA cooperation between the Univ
