Description
The ‘Accademia Vicino di Accumoli’ International Orchestral Academy aims to support the holistic reconstruction of the town of Accumoli, which was destroyed by the earthquake. Through this initiative, the aim is to promote intangible aspects such as cultural, social and religious life, and to boost the local economy. The idea for this initiative arose from the fact that most projects focus on the physical reconstruction of the historic centre. However, it is also important to restore the foundations for the management of these buildings. The Accumoli Vicino Academy invites musical talents from all over the world to Accumoli, who will contribute to the international network as ambassadors for Accumoli. Furthermore, musical talents from the region are supported in developing their potential and are connected with teachers from abroad and with the other participants. To avoid barriers to participation in the orchestral academy, attendance is free of charge. Furthermore, the costs of board and lodging will also be covered. To forge a connection with the local area, only local produce is consumed and, as far as possible, accommodation is provided locally. Group activities (concerts, ceremonies and festivals) are organised with the local population, and knowledge relating to history, culture and the theme of reconstruction is shared.
