Access to Reading Room

The following safety regulations will apply to the use of the library reading room:

  • The 2.5G rule (vaccinated, recovered, PCR-tested) applies in the library.
  • The minimum distance of two meters has to be kept.
  • Entering and staying ( also at the work table ) is only allowed with wearing a FFP2 mask.
  • Workstations are only available to single persons.
  • User data will be recorded for contact tracing. 
  • Workstations with fixed PCs are not available.
  • By any signs of illness the use of the University Library is not allowed.

Because of the current situation, we are offering the following services:

  • Books can be borrowed and returned at the library's lending desk. We ask you to research the books you would like to borrow in advance in the library catalogue (including the shelf mark). Please inform us of your loan requests by email ( so that they will be ready for you to pick up at the counter.Both the borrowing process and the stay in the library should be kept as short as possible. Furthermore, access is only permitted for individuals.
  • Sending scanned chapters by mail
  • Postal dispatch of complete, available copies (only with reading room and magazine location) or extensive chapters to Austria, Germany and Switzerland. However, shipping is limited to a maximum of 5 books or depends on the weight.

You can borrow books from and return them to the library loan desk. We kindly ask you to check the books for availability in the Online Catalog in advance (including the book number). Please send your loan requests per email to so that we can have them ready for you to pick up at the counter.

This way, both the borrowing process and your stay in the library are kept as short as possible. Furthermore, individuals are only permitted access.
