reference management software citavi

Citavi

The University for Continuing Education provides its students and staff with the reference management software Citavi.

Citavi is a Windows-based software that you locally install on your PC, which then can either be used individually or as collaborate unit (i.e. team).

ARE YOU WORKING WITH CITAVI FOR THE FIRST TIME?

Install Citavi 6 for Windows. You can access the installation file on www.citavi.com/en/download.

Open a Citavi account under www.citavi.com/donau-uni. It is necessary to use your university e-mail address, e.g. first name.surname@donau-uni.ac.at (staff member) or first name.surname@edu.donau-uni.ac.at (students).

Open Citavi, and log into your Citavi account. The license data will be generated from the account.

The campus license is valid for the duration of your assignment/studies at University for Continuing Education Krems. Annually you are requested to authenticate your data in the Citavi account.

A brief introduction can also be found in the Citavi manual.

CAN I USE CITAVI ON A MAC?

Citavi is a Windows program. A Mac version does not exist, instead Citavi works on developing on a web version. To receive related information on the beta phase launch, you can subscribe to the Citavi mailing list.

Currently, Citavi is only accessible on the Mac by using a so-called virtual machine. This virtual machine provides a Windows environment you can work with on the Mac. So, what do you do? You open Citavi (and other Windows applications) on your Mac in a kind of "sandbox" to run your Mac and Windows applications in parallel.

See the manual for detailed instructions: Citavi 6: Installing on a Mac
