Functions
Univ.-Prof. Dr. Viktoria Weber has been Rector of the University for Continuing Education Krems since August 1, 2025. She is a university professor of medical biochemistry and was Vice Rector for Research and Sustainable Development at the University for Continuing Education Krems from 2010 to 2024.
Born in 1967, Weber studied food technology and biotechnology at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, and habilitated in biochemistry in 2008. From 1994 to 1996 she worked as post-doc at the Institute for Tumor Biology and Cancer Research at the University of Vienna and joined the Center for Biomedical Technology at the University for Continuing Education Krems as a research assistant in 1999. In 2010 Viktoria Weber was appointed professor for Applied Biochemistry.
Weber has many years of national and international management and governance experience. She is currently Deputy Chair of the Research Forum of the Austrian Universities Conference (uniko), a member of the Board of the Complexity Science Hub Vienna, a member of the Supervisory Board of the Vienna Biocenter Core Facilities, a member of the FWF Delegates' Assembly, and a member of the Advisory Board for Research Infrastructure Development in the Context of the European Research Area for the Federal Ministry of Education, Science, and Research. She also serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Austrian Research Association, as Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Leibniz Society for Sciences in Berlin, on the Executive Committee of the European Society for Artificial Organs (ESAO), and as President of the Austrian Society for Molecular Biosciences and Biotechnology.
