From November 13-15, the University for Continuing Education Krems will host a conference titled “University Leadership in Times of Uncertainty: Governing Universities in the Danube Region through Multiple Crises”. The event will discuss how universities in the Danube region can address multiple crises and major societal challenges in a resilient and solution-oriented way. The conference at the campus of the University for Continuing Education Krems will be opened by the Austrian Federal Minister of Education, Science and Research Martin Polaschek and will include high-level discussion panels, space for young academics and the Danubius Awards Ceremony.
The conference, chaired by the President of the DRC, Friedrich Faulhammer, Rector of the University for Continuing Education Krems, will focus on analyzing the diverse societal crises that universities in the Danube region have faced in recent years. The aim is to identify innovative practices and adaptive strategies that help universities to proactively contribute to overcoming current and emerging challenges. In particular, an inter- and transdisciplinary approach can be used to develop sustainable solutions that combine scientific and societal perspectives. Knowledge exchange and cooperation further strengthen this approach and lead to valuable insights for university governance in the Danube region.
By actively addressing current and future ambivalences and uncertainties, universities contribute to sustainable societal impact and to securing the future. Research and reflection on higher education governance can strengthen the role of universities in these dynamic times. The exchange of best practices at the conference aims to develop more resilient and adaptable higher education systems in the Danube region. The DRC Annual Conference will enrich the discourse on higher education policy in this key region for Europe.
