Description

: Entrepreneurship is often supported by people who play a significant role in the founding, management, further development and sustainable security of their respective companies - and thus in shaping the sustainable future of Austria and its regions. These people – like the companies in which they work – are multi-faceted and complex. In contrast, due to the scientific one-dimensionality described at the beginning, “entrepreneurship” is currently underrepresented or misrepresented in public discourse. Being a founder has certainly had a positive connotation in the start-up scene in recent years, but the general public continues to be dominated by a conservative and purely functional image of an entrepreneur, in which profit maximization at all costs continues to dominate seems to be the top priority. When it comes to sustainability, companies are often perceived as part of the problem rather than part of the solution. Against this background, the Krems University for Continuing Education intends to set up a new research focus specifically on corporate sustainability, where an attempt will also be made to create a scientific balance between economics, ecology and social issues.
