Description

In this project, we are developing innovative piezoelectric hydrogels that generate electrical signals under mechanical stress, which can promote the regeneration of damaged articular cartilage. To test their effectiveness, we use a biotribological testing method that realistically simulates the complex movements and loads in joints. This method is more accurate than conventional, simplified laboratory tests and avoids the high costs and ethical concerns of animal experiments. This allows us to specifically investigate the interaction between the hydrogel and cartilage, protect the cartilage, and stimulate its healing. The goal is the development of a novel material for the treatment of joint diseases.
