NEXTGEN: Next Generation Programming: Empowering Tomorrow's Workforce[19:35 Uhr]Objectives:

NEXTGEN prepares young people (16–25) for AI-enhanced workplaces by combining hands-on workshops, career guidance, and applied research. The project strengthens youth employability, equips youth workers with resources, and links research, practice, and policy. Through international cooperation between Austria and Malta, it develops inclusive, transferable methods for AI literacy and digital readiness. Implementation: The project includes two youth workshops (Krems and Malta) combining AI programming, career guidance, and research activities; a European Call for Papers to collect research and practitioner insights; an international hybrid conference in Krems to present results and foster networks; and final open-access publication and dissemination via Erasmus+ platforms to ensure lasting impact. Results: NEXTGEN will deliver practical AI literacy for 30 young people, inclusive educational resources for youth workers, and evidence-based policy recommendations. Outputs include an open-access multi-format publication, career guidance materials, and conference proceedings. The project strengthens European networks linking youth, research, practice, and policy to support employability in the digital age. Given the 12-month timeframe and small-scale funding, NEXTGEN prioritises quality over quantity.
