At Cherkasy National University Prof. Dr. Taras Romashchenko works at the Department of Economics and International Economic Relations. Besides, he is Deputy Head of the Institute of Economics and Law and is in charge of the image-building activity and international relations. 
At the end of 2021, he was awarded a Scholarship of the Scholarship Foundation of the Republic of Austria for Postdocs and had to join the team of the Department for Migration and Globalisation in Krems starting in March 2022. Unfortunately, because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, his arrival was delayed for almost a year. 
At Danube University Krems under the supervision of Prof. Mathias Czaika – the head of the Department for Migration and Globalisation – Taras Romashchenko will spend four months researching the investment potential of the Ukrainian diaspora, mainly migrants, on the development of the country of origin. That is of vital importance today when Ukraine’s economy is in shambles due to the unprovoked full-scale war unleashed by Russia and, thus, needs badly financial and other resources for reconstruction.
He holds a PhD in international economics from Donetsk National University of Economics and Trade, Ukraine, and has published on topics such as global labour migration, international flows of highly-skilled workers, remittances, etc. Recent publications obviously touch on the challenges of the ongoing war in the context of social and economic development.
