The Faculty of Architecture and Physical Planning of the Lúrio University, as part of the project GIRT, held a meeting on May 29, 2025. The meeting took place in the auditorium of the Faculty on the Marrere campus in the city of Nampula, Mozambique.
The aim of the meeting was to validate the answers given by the women, in different thematic areas of the project, during the interviews conducted by the research assistants, under the supervision of a researcher. Another aim was to gather other sensitivities on the same topics.
The meeting was attended by community leaders, members of the local community from the Namutequeliua neighborhood in the municipality of Nampula and researchers from the project (António M. de Amurane, Cecília Boaventura and Jaibo Mucufo), as well as the director of the faculty.
The agenda for the meeting was as follows:
- Introduction of everyone in the room;
- Welcome speech by the faculty director;
- General presentation of the project, as there have been changes in leadership since the local elections;
- Presentation of the results of the research by theme by the researchers;
- Final considerations and closing of the work.
In order to achieve the aim of the meeting and have greater interaction with those present in the room, after the presentation of each topic, spaces were opened up for comments and observations. There were confirmations and additions to the results that came from the interviews.
As result of the meting, the following can be highlighted:
- creation of greater rapprochement between the research team, the university and community leaders;
- openness on the part of the neighborhood leadership to support the research;
- obtaining new data for the research;
- confirmation of the data gathered during the interviews for the qualitative research.
