General Job Description
The duties of the university professor include the dedicated representation of the field of Psychotherapy Sciences (Humanistic Psychotherapy) in research, development, and teaching; the assumption of management and leadership tasks within the department; and the continuous advancement of the study programs offered. The future position holder is expected to conduct comprehensive and impact-oriented empirical research, with the results feeding directly into ongoing teaching activities.
Your tasks:
- Leadership and representation of the Humanistic Cluster in teaching and research
- Contributing to the development and implementation of the Master’s program in Psychotherapy
- Developing and contributing to continuing education programs in the field of humanistic therapy
- Publishing research findings in high-ranking scientific journals
- Acquisition of third-party funding
- Intra‑ and inter‑institutional cooperation
Your profile:
To be considered for the position, the following selection criteria must be met:
- Completed university degree (Doctorate/PhD) in a relevant field
- Completed psychotherapy training in the humanistic cluster in accordance with the Austrian Psychotherapy Act 2024
- Habilitation or equivalent academic qualification in a relevant field
- Relevant professional experience and expertise in psychotherapy
- Research and publication record in the field, particularly in reputable scientific journals
- Proven success in acquiring third-party funding
- Strong teaching aptitude demonstrated through evaluated teaching experience
- Very good knowledge of qualitative or quantitative research methods
- Very good command of German and English, both spoken and written (minimum B2 in both)
- Competence in gender equality and diversity is required (if not yet present, a willingness to complete relevant training within two years after appointment is expected)
In addition, the following criteria are desirable:
- Experience with university structures in teaching and research
- Established presence in the relevant scientific community
- Leadership experience and strong social skills
- International network and experience in relevant academic committees
- Experience in the development and management of study programs
- Ability for strategic and entrepreneurial thinking
- Educational policy and professional regulatory knowledge in the field
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills

The professor will be appointed based on a permanent employment according to the appointment procedure laid down in section § 98 UG (Austrian University Act).
The minimum remuneration for this professorship will be EUR 6,713.30 gross per month (14x), on a full-time basis (according to the collective agreement of the universities §49 VwGr. A1). A willingness to negotiate higher salary exists for candidates with appropriate qualifications and professional experience.
