Professorship for Humanistic Psychotherapy Sciences (m/f/d) according to § 98 UG (Austrian Universities Act)

General Job Description

The professorship entails the committed representation of the field of Psychotherapy Science (Humanistic Psychotherapy) in research and teaching, the assumption of leadership and management responsibilities within the department, and the continuous development of the academic curriculum. The successful candidate is expected to conduct comprehensive, impact-oriented empirical research, with research findings being continuously integrated into teaching.

Your tasks:

  • Leadership and representation of the Humanistic Psychotherapy Cluster in teaching and research
  • Contribution to the development and delivery of the regular Master's degree programme in Psychotherapy
  • Developing and contributing to the delivery of postgraduate and continuing education programmes in the field of Humanistic Psychotherapy
  • Independent and collaborative academic work
  • Publication of research findings
  • Acquisition of competitive third-party research funding

Your profile:
To be considered for the position, the following selection criteria must be met
:

  • Completed university degree (Doctorate/PhD) in a relevant field
  • Completed psychotherapy training in the humanistic cluster in accordance with the Austrian Psychotherapy Act 2024
  • Habilitation (venia docendi) in a relevant field or an equivalent academic qualification
  • Relevant professional experience and expertise in the field of psychotherapy
  • Proven track record of relevant research and publications
  • Evidence of successful acquisition of third-party funding and implementation of third-party funded projects
  • Teaching experience with a proven track record of teaching activities relevant to the humanistic psychotherapy cluster
  • Very good written and spoken German and English, or a willingness to achieve level B2 within three years
  • Competence in equality and diversity, or a willingness to complete relevant further training within two years of taking up the professorship

In addition, the following criteria are desirable:

  • Experience of, or willingness to collaborate with, other psychotherapy clusters
  • National and international networking and participation in collaborative projects
  • Experience of serving on relevant committees
  • Experience of university structures
  • Strong interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to lead teams and foster a collaborative working culture
  • Digital skills
  • Experience in developing and/or managing degree programmes
  • Ability to think strategically and entrepreneurially
  • Knowledge of education policy and professional regulations within the discipline
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

The professor will be appointed based on a permanent employment according to the appointment procedure laid down in section § 98 UG (Austrian University Act).

The minimum remuneration for this professorship will be EUR 6,713.30 gross per month (14x), on a full-time basis (according to the collective agreement of the universities §49 VwGr. A1). A willingness to negotiate higher salary exists for candidates with appropriate qualifications and professional experience.
