The following professorship is offered at the Faculty of Education, Arts and Architecture in the Department for Integrated Sensor Systems at the University for Continuing Education Krems:
Professorship for Modeling of Functional Material Systems (m/f/d) according to § 99 UG (Austrian Universities Act)
min. 30-40 hrs./week

The tasks of the university professor include the committed representation of the field of Modeling of Functional Material Systems in research, development and teaching, the participation in management and leadership tasks at the department as well as the continuous development of the teaching program. The professor should carry out comprehensive research in the field of Modeling of Functional Material Systems, the results of which should in turn be incorporated into the teaching process. The following activities are to be implemented in 5 years:
Your tasks:
- Scientific management of the subject area “Modeling of Functional Material Systems”
- Taking on social, organizational and economic management and leadership tasks within the department
- Conducting courses and examinations
- Acquisition of third-party funding for research projects at national and European level
- Publishing research results in high-ranking scientific journals and presenting the results at relevant conferences
- Development of continuing education programs in the field of “Modeling of Functional Material Systems”
- Supervision of master's and doctoral theses
- Engagement in internal and external cooperations
- Participation in organizational and administrative tasks
- Participation in evaluation measures in teaching and research
Your profile:
To be considered for the position, the following selection criteria must be met:
- Completed technical university degree (doctorate/PhD) or from related fields
- Habilitation or equivalent qualification
- Excellent scientific expertise in computer-aided material development, the finite element method and machine learning
- Expertise in the simulation of functional materials and mesoscopic systems
- Expertise and experience in the simulation of magnetic materials
- Peer-reviewed journal publications in the field of “Modeling of Functional Material Systems”
- Anchoring in the relevant scientific community (proven by active conference participation, memberships, (co-)authorship, activities in editorial boards, conference organization etc.)
- Proof of successful acquisition of third-party funding
- Proof of own research projects
- Teaching experience in the field of modeling and simulation
- Didactic skills and experience in (co-)supervising students and doctoral candidates
- Excellent written and spoken English (min. C1) and German (min. B2)
- Leadership experience and management skills in social, organizational and economic terms
- Competence in equality and diversity is required (if not available, willingness to complete appropriate training within two years of taking up the professorship is required)
In addition, the following criteria are desirable:
- Successful acquisition of third-party funding as a Principal Investigator
- Experience in the use of highly parallel computer systems
- Knowledge of the Austrian and international university environment
- Experience with university structures in teaching and research
- National and international networking and experience in participating in thematically relevant committees in the subject area
- Ability to think strategically and economically
- Strong communication and teamwork skills

The professor will be appointed limited to 5 years according to the appointment procedure laid down in section § 99 UG (Austrian University Act).
The remuneration for this professorship will be EUR 6,604.30 € gross per month, on a full-time basis (according to the collective agreement of the universities §49 VwGr. A1). A willingness to negotiate higher salary exists for candidates with corresponding qualifications and professional experience.
