Eloisa Harris joined the Department of Migration and Globalisation in September 2026 as a postdoctoral researcher in RESTATE and SYREALITY projects.

About the person

Prior to joining Krems, she worked as a senior scientist at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland and a postdoctoral fellow at the Max-Planck Institute for the study of Ethnic and Religious Diversity in Göttingen, Germany. She received her PhD in Political Science from the University of Bremen in September 2021. 

Eloisa's research focuses on the politics of immigration and social policy in Western European democracies. She has worked on electoral competition around immigration, redistribution and welfare deservingness, with a particular focus on public opinion, voting and partisanship. In her current research in the remit of the RESTATE and SYREALITY projects, Eloisa uses primary survey data to investigate refugees’ political preferences and participation. She is particularly interested in refugees’ experiences of social and economic rights in destination countries, social (im)mobility and gender, and how these factors impact perceptions of the state.

Her work has been published in the European Political Science Review, European Journal of Political Research, the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies and Ethnic and Racial Studies, among other outlets.
