tecnet | accent Innovation Award 2024

The results of your research are innovative and have the potential for further economic development? Do your inventions and research results contribute to meeting societal challenges and thus benefit many people? And are you a research associate, graduate or student at the University for Continuing Education Krems, the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems and the Karl Landsteiner University of Health Sciences, as well as the Danube Private University?

Then submit your research to the fifth "tecnet | accent Innovation Award", which will be presented at the University for Continuing Education Krems. In addition to attractive prize money, the Innovation Award offers you the opportunity to present the results of your research to a wide audience, to network with other researchers and to exchange experiences. Interested parties are cordially invited to submit their projects in the form of a poster for this award.

Projects from both basic and applied research can be submitted. We are looking for ideas and solutions that address socially relevant topics such as health, education, mobility or digitalisation and can initiate social benefits.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, 15 November, 2024

A coaching workshop will provide you with information on the steps and challenges involved in the commercial realisation of research results and prepare you for the presentation of your projects to the expert jury. The coaching workshop can also be held in English if required.

The deadline for submission is 15 November 2024.

The following questions and criteria help to formulate the presentation of your research work and its potential economic and societal effects:

• What are the results of my research project or invention and what are their benefits?
• Who could benefit from it?
• What could a potential product or service based on my  results look like?
• What kind of a problem or issue could my product or service solve and what benefits would it have?
• What further development steps are required to enable economic and social realisation?
• If my idea could contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), what would this look like and how could my idea contribute?

Answering these criteria and questions are understood to help prepare a presentation of the research as well as initial thoughts on its potential economic and societal impact.

Participants will present their projects in a 10-minute presentation to a panel of experts. A poster, in the format A0, is required from the submitters in order to take part. Please print out the poster yourself and bring it with you to the presentation. The jury is made up of one representative from each of the following institutions: University for Continuing Education Krems, IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems, Karl Landsteiner University of Health Sciences, tecnet equity NÖ Technologiebeteiligungs-Invest GmbH and accent Inkubator GmbH. Both the poster and the presentation will be evaluated in order to rate the projects.

Submitting and presenting the poster to the jury does not count as publication!

The award ceremony will take place in January 2025 (date to be announced later).

The prizes are donated by tecnet equity NÖ Technologiebeteiligungs-Invest GmbH and accent Inkubator GmbH. The prize is freely available. In the case of team submissions, the prize will be divided among the team members.

2nd prize: 1,000 Euro
3rd prize:     500 Euro
