Description

The aim of this proposal is to offer a qualification programme for Austrian Publishing Compa-nies with a special focus on the production and distribution of digital education material. The specific media focus lies on schoolbooks. Enhancing digital competences does not only mean to teach new opportunities provided by interactive technologies but also to learn about changes in the production and work environment which results in adapting existing business models as part of a change management programme. The Austrian Government has stated in its digital strategy that „Digitalisation enables the opening of Access to Education (Österreichische Bundesregierung 2016, S.16, own transl.)“. One of the measures to reach this goal is to „stepwise implement digital and interactive schoolbooks. Digital Media for Education as well as open educational resources; extend of-fers for self organised learning.“ (ibid.) In this project, the consortium develops a taylor-made Qualification Programme for School-book Publishers which will be offered in blended learning mode for continuing education. The central content is Didactics which will be linked and applied in 5 modules which are Content Production, Educational Design and Educational Technology, Framework Conditions (e.g. social, technical, legal aspects), Change Management and will be transferred to a real-life project in the participating companies (transfer project). The need for these qualifications results from the ongoing digital transformation within the publishing industry. The curriculum will enable the employees to adapt to change processes and moreover to initiate change and develop their own projects with digital workflows in the companies. The quality management is assured by a steering board (with members from university as well as business) and comprises two measures: 1. The project results will be integrated in a new Certified Educational Offer from Danube University Krems and 2. All developed material is provided as Open Educational Resource (OER) and is accessible for free.
