The digital image is a complex system, that is not only complicated but has rapidly-accelerating complexity. With the Algorithmic, Computational, Digital and even Post-digital Turns over recent decades, the digital image is becoming contextual, ephemeral, experiential, immersive, interactive, multimodal, and processual, made as it is out of many technologies. Thus, new theories must be developed to understand emerging digital imagery phenomena.
