Description

The "Eat right from the start!" (REVAN) program has been implemented since 2008 through the Austrian Agency for Health and Nutritional Safety GmbH (AGES), the Federal Ministry for Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection (BMSGPK), and the umbrella organization of the Austrian Social Insurance (DVSV). In target group-oriented workshops, REVAN informs expectant and new parents, close caregivers, and the general population about the right nutrition for pregnant and breastfeeding women, babies being weaned, toddlers, and children between the ages of 4 and 10.  Ideally, health promotion and prevention programs should be implemented in an evidence-based manner and there should be evidence of their effectiveness and sustainability (Federal Ministry of Health and Women, 2016). A scientifically sound evaluation is an important basis for meeting this requirement. To achieve this, the Centre for Evaluation has been tasked with creating an evaluation plan for REVAN that can contribute to evidence-informed practice. The development of this evaluation plan is a joint process and includes the creation of questionnaires for participants attending the REVAN nutrition workshops. For this purpose, the Centre for Evaluation will moderate two meetings with REVAN sponsors, in which the evaluation plan and the survey instruments will be scientifically developed and created.  Federal Ministry of Health and Women.
