Description
This project has 3 main objectives: 1. Increasing awareness through in the field of dementia, particularly on Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) both in the general public including different immigrant groups, is the main objective of the proposed project. 2. Equalize health literacy within European countries 3. Address the work task force shortage in dementia care 4. Increase digital skills To reach the main objectives of our project, we have partnered internationally, working together with countries with different levels of awareness, different quality of dementia care, different levels of health literacy as well as different groups of immigrants. This project and the concomitant recommendations will enhance the capacity to increase inclusion, diversity, innovation and digital transformation. The international collaboration undertaken in this project will capitalise on transnational collaboration, materialized in training resources aligned with local contexts and needs and directly aimed at raising awareness among general public – especially also including different immigrant groups, persons affected by dementia in early phases, professionals, and family caregivers. Increased awareness through high quality and flexible learning opportunities eliminates stigma, increases knowledge and health literacy surrounding Alzheimer’s disease. This project provides learning opportunities for the general public, through innovative awareness tools, such as digital learning programs including interactive innovative learning methodologies. Innovative awareness building learning tools are based on providing profound personal learning experiences, which not only tackle stigma on the subject of dementia, but also sensitize participants to intersectional diversity in the broadest sense e.g. social, ethnic, linguistic, gender and cultural diversity. These methods can be flexibly adapted to different target groups such as different groups of immigrants with different cultural backgrounds or different groups within society itself. Additionally, the learning resources can also promote the “big gain” in engaging in dementia care as a career option for young people or people searching for new career opportunities including different immigrant groups. Professional caregiving and encouraging many more persons to follow a career in caring for persons with dementia and could bring an additional benefit as it attracts professional caregivers from different backgrounds also serving the different immigrant communities and the whole society. The project’s main objective is awareness raising in the general population including different immigrant groups and people living in remoted areas from the participating countries using novel training resources - is complemented with a particular additional attention to adults with low levels of digital skills, education and dementia knowledge. Increasing digital literacy is therefore an important aspect of the project.
