New evidence-based approaches are needed to respond effectively to the increasing incidence of dementia worldwide. A dementia-related illness not only has far-reaching consequences for the person affected, his or her everyday life and social environment, but also challenges our healthcare system.

Integrated models of care for people with dementia and their environment are being discussed internationally as possible solutions. The Center for Dementia Studies has set itself the goal of researching these integrated care models and thus making a significant contribution to the care of people with dementia and their environment. The Center is also involved in international cooperation projects.
A central interest of the Center for Dementia Studies is the creation of open, transparent research structures in the sense of "Open Science".
