The Green Horizons project, funded by the European Union and running from 1 November 2025 to 31 October 2027, aims to support the green and digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), particularly in the Agri-Food sector, by strengthening vocational education and training (VET) and promoting sustainable business practices. Addressing key European priorities, the project focuses on capacity building for greening SME operations, fostering innovation, and accelerating the adoption of environmental technologies.
It develops a comprehensive framework that combines skills assessment, innovative teaching approaches, and targeted training schemes to enhance competencies in energy efficiency, circular economy, and sustainable business management. Through the creation of an interactive digital educational platform and a wide range of open educational resources—including videos, case studies, and infographics—the project supports upskilling and reskilling of VET learners and professionals, while increasing awareness of climate-friendly and resource-efficient practices.
By promoting behavioral change and demonstrating the tangible benefits of sustainability, Green Horizons enhances the competitiveness, resilience, and environmental performance of SMEs, while contributing to broader European sustainability objectives and ensuring long-term impact through accessible and scalable project outputs.
