The Transdisciplinary Social Transition Institute focuses on advancing sustainable societal transformations through integrated research, education, and innovation at the intersection of social, economic, and environmental systems. It brings together transdisciplinary approaches that link science, policy, and practice to address complex global challenges such as climate change, sustainable agriculture, and green economic transitions.
The Institute’s activities are structured around three core initiatives: the TISE Erasmus Mundus Excellence Programme, which educates future leaders in sustainability transitions, innovation systems, and complex environments; the AGRECOFARM project, which promotes sustainable agricultural systems in sub-Saharan Africa through innovative curricula and agroecological practices while strengthening EU–Africa cooperation; and the Green Horizons project, which supports the green and digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises, particularly in the agri-food sector, by enhancing skills, fostering innovation, and promoting sustainable business operations.
Together, these initiatives reflect the Institute’s mission to generate knowledge, build capacity, and enable actionable solutions for resilient and sustainable futures.
